Privacy, in plain words

Foldline is private by default. Your reading is yours, and this page explains exactly what we keep, why, and how to take it with you or delete it.

Who runs Foldline

Foldline is a free reading tracker made and run by Istiak, an independent developer. When this policy says "we", it means Istiak.

What we collect

When you sign in with Google, Google shares your email address, your name and your profile picture with us. We use them only to create your account and show you who you are signed in as.

Everything else is what you add yourself: the books you track, your progress, notes, goals and settings.

We do not ask Google for anything else, and we never see your Google password.

To keep Foldline safe from abuse, we briefly count requests per account and per network address. Addresses are stored only as a one-way keyed hash, never as the address itself, and are cleared within a day.

How we use it

Only to run Foldline for you: to keep your library, show your progress and your personal stats, and keep you signed in.

Your stats are about you alone. We never compare you with other readers.

What we never do

No ads. No product analytics, telemetry or third-party trackers, not even aggregate site analytics.

We never sell, rent or share your data with anyone for marketing, and we do not build a profile of you.

Nothing you add is public. Sharing, if it ever arrives, will be something you choose to do, one item at a time.

Cookies

Foldline sets only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner to click through.

Foldline lives at foldline.bustandeen.com, as a Bustandeen service. Nothing from bustandeen.com runs on Foldline, reads your data or sets cookies here; Foldline's cookies belong to Foldline's own address only.

Where your data lives

Your account and library are stored with Supabase, our database provider, in their Singapore region. The website is served by Vercel. Encrypted weekly backups are kept in a private GitHub repository for up to 90 days.

These providers process data only so Foldline can work. Each row of your data is locked to your account, so no other user can read it.

Your data, your call

You can download everything Foldline holds about you as a JSON file, and you can delete your account and all its data, both from the Settings page at any time. If anything goes wrong, email us and we will do it for you within 30 days.

After deletion, your data disappears from backups as they expire, within 90 days.

AI features

Foldline has no AI features today. If we add any, they will be off by default, and each will explain what data it uses before you turn it on.

Children

Foldline is not meant for children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, tell us and we will delete the account.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and explain the change inside Foldline before it takes effect. We will never loosen these promises quietly.
